Madoo offers classes for every age and level. Adult painting classes, instructed by local, professional artists, are held both in our gardens and in our historic interiors and are open to all levels, from beginner to advanced. Our summer paint club, for ages ten and up, teaches the fundamentals of painting through the lens of the artists and art history of the East End. Madoodles, for ages five to eight, is a outdoor art class that fosters creativity and hands-on learning. Other year-round classes include garden workshops and exhibition-related programs. Be sure to check back for calendar updates!

Pruning is both an art and science. Join us and explore how the practice of pruning and an understanding of plant physiology can lead to greater success in the garden. A presentation of concepts, timing, and tools will precede a field walk where specific situations will be discussed, and techniques demonstrated where appropriate. Led by Wayne Cahilly.
Wayne Cahilly is an arborist with nearly forty years’ experience in tree and shrub care. He has worked and taught at The New York Botanical Garden since the early 1980s and has operated Cahilly’s Horticultural Services, LLC since 1985. As a consultant who specializes in woody plant health, risk assessment, and failure analysis of fallen trees, Wayne brings a unique set of skills and experience to the subject of pruning.
