We were very pleased to welcome Madrid-based landscape architect Fernando Caruncho, founder of Fernando Caruncho & Asociados S.L., who spoke on the garden as artwork. Over the past 37 years Caruncho has refined his serene architectural approach to gardens in more than 150 public and private commissions. In the foreword to Mirrors of Paradise: The Gardens of Fernando Caruncho, the late Dan Kiley wrote “The design of the landscape should not be a superficial reordering of natural elements merely to delight the eye. There is a larger and greater order, and I feel confident that Fernando Caruncho is one man who is able to listen to his voice with his heart and translate it to the land with his mind.”
